What it offers

With its 583,000 sq. km, the country has many things to offer including beautiful beaches with clear waters and safaris all year round, as well as the spectacular Mt. Kenya.  Kenya is mainly attractive for its diverse wildlife, and different types of safaris can be done in order to enjoy them such as walking tours, 4×4 rides or even just watching the animals from the many lodges located in the National Parks. The most visited parks are the Masai Mara, Samburu, Amboseli, Tsavo and Mt Kenya, and one of the most famous attractions in the parks is the migration of wildebeest from Tanzania during the months of August to October (after the heavy rains).

The most visited beaches are the ones close to the old town of Lamu, as well as Malindi where the waters are clear. Lamu is a very quiet place where a limited number of buses enter, as people usually get around by foot or donkeys. It is the perfect place to come and relax after having done Safaris, as all there is are some lodges and the relaxing sound of the beach. Malindi is a small town in Kenya, but the beaches surrounding it are very beautiful and this makes it one of the top attractions in the country. The area is ideal for snorkeling, as there is a Marine Park that limits fishing and preserves the marine environment.

People visiting Kenya can also enjoy the Tanzanian Island of Zanzibar due to the proximity between the two lands.

The Samburu people have also been a famous attraction in the country as they are located close to the main Samburu Reserve, and have a very interesting culture that is exciting to experience.

Safety & Security in Kenya

More than a million tourists visit Kenya every year and most visits are trouble-free. By avoiding the Kenya-Somali border area, Kenya can be considered a safe travel destination, even more so if the purpose is an organized safari. Nairobi has had a bad reputation for a long time, so walking the city unaccompanied isn’t recommended. An overnight stay at a reputable hotel or an organized visit to one of the many attractions in or around the city is generally safe.
